Schweighausen
Schweighausen is a municipality in the Rhein- Lahn-Kreis in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Nassau.
Geography
Schweighausen located in the western Hintertaunus between the southern shore of the lower Lahn and the Rhine.
History
Schweighausen was first mentioned in 1255 as a possession of the castle and courtyard Nassau. The Freiherr vom Stein (since 1409 vassal of the Counts of Nassau ) were 1613-1804 rich immediate lords of the village. 1806 the site was assigned to the Duchy of Nassau, which was annexed in 1866 by the Kingdom of Prussia. Since 1946 Schweighausen is part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded.
Parish council
The local council in Schweighausen consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009, by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman location.
