Bettendorf is a municipality in the Rhein- Lahn-Kreis in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Nastaetten.

Geography

Bettendorf is located between the Rhine and Lahn Taunus. At Bettendorf include the residential places and Aspenhof Sonnenhof.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1163. But findings can already be close to a settlement by the Celts. Since 1557, the area was, with brief interruptions until 1806 in the possession of Hesse - Kassel. Since 1815, the village belonged to the Duchy of Nassau, from 1866 to Prussia.

Since 1946 Bettendorf is part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded. The population has increased significantly since the early 1970s.
