Auel

History

In 1250 the village was first mentioned in documents as Owele. From 1806 Auel was part of the duchy of Nassau, which was annexed in 1866 by Prussia. Since 1946 it has been part of Rhineland- Palatinate.

The old town hall, which is called colloquially Backes ( = Backhaus ), was first mentioned in 1822 under this name, and makes it one of the oldest buildings in Auel. Economy and Transport
