Dachsenhausen

Dachsenhausen is a municipality in the Rhein- Lahn-Kreis in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Loreley. Dachsenhausen is a nationally recognized tourist.

Geographical location

Dachsenhausen located in the western Hintertaunus, in the northeast of the Middle Rhine Taunus. Average about 2.7 km south-west rise the maximum of 456.6 m above sea level. History

The first mention as Dossinhusin in a Braubacher deed dated 29 September 1277th In the 16th century, the spelling of the name of Dassin moved to Daxen.

The name Opel, ancestors of Adam Opel, founder of the Adam Opel GmbH, has already been documented for the year 1573. Since that time, numerous bearers of this name are detected in Dachsenhausen, mainly in the locally modified form Obel.

In the turmoil after he French Revolution by French troops occupied the office Braubach was the Duchy of Nassau connected with Dachsenhausen 1806, which were the princes of the House of Nassau - Usingen as compensation for loss of linksrheinschem area of the Hesse- Darmstadt.
