Dienethal

Dienethal is a municipality in the Rhein- Lahn-Kreis in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Nassau.

Geography

The place is located in the Natural Park Nassau ( Nassau region ) and is part of the Western Hintertaunus. It is located in a side valley of the Lahn. The size of the community is approximately 1.39 km ², of which 0.5 km ² of forest in predominantly steep hillside. To Dienethal includes the residential places Herbelsmühle and priests mill.

History

Dienethal was first mentioned in 1330. From 1430 Dienethal belonged to the manorial Nievern Sponheim, which was long in the possession of the House of Nassau. The place came 1806 to the Duchy of Nassau. Since 1866 part of the Prussian province of Hesse -Nassau, the place in 1946 for the then newly founded state of Rhineland -Palatinate.

Parish council

The local council in Dienethal consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009, by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman. In the previous election period from 2004 to 2009, the council had eight members.

Attractions

1372 Church in Dienethal were first mentioned. Today's small church is characterized in its interior from the Baroque style. In the 1950s, remains of frescoes were discovered in the 14th century.
