Marco Marchionni

Marco Marchionni ( born July 22, 1980 in Monterotondo, Italy) is an Italian football player. He is a midfielder who is preferably used on the right side.

Career

In the club

Marco Marchionni began playing football club in his hometown, the AC Monterotondo. His professional career started in 1998 at FC Empoli, in 2001 he moved to Parma. In the following two seasons Marchionni came only a few uses and was therefore borrowed from the 2002/03 season for half a year at Piacenza Calcio, where he was able to show convincing performance.

After his return to Parma for the season 2003/ 04 he played under coach Cesare Prandelli, who had to rely on young players mainly because of the financial plight of the club, an important role in the first team.

It was followed by two more seasons, with good performances in Parma, before Marco Marchionni in the spring of 2006, as his contract expired at the end of the season, opted for a transfer fee change to Juventus. The later forced relocation of his new club to Serie B due to the manipulation scandal did not change his decision. At Juve, he came in his first season, although used regularly, but could win a regular place on the right side, as he had uttered strong competition in this position with Mauro Camoranesi. After Juventus return to Serie A, he was injured badly at the start of the 2007/08 season and was sidelined for several months. In the season 2008/ 09 Marco Marchionni was due to frequent injuries in Claudio Ranieri's Camoranesis often Juve starting lineup and showed strong performance on the outside right position.

In July 2009, Marco Marchionni joined for 4.5 million euros to Fiorentina.

In the National Team

After a total of 18 U-21 internationals between 2000 and 2002 for Italy Marchionni debuted on 12 November 2003 under Giovanni Trapattoni in the senior national team and played a total of six appearances for the Azzurri.
