Maricica Ţăran

Maricica Taran, also Titie Jordache ( born January 4, 1962 in Satu Mare, Romania) is a former Romanian- German rower.

Life

Maricica Taran was born in 1962 in Romania. She reached her first international success at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles when she won gold with the Romanian sculls. In 1985 she won the bronze medal in the following year the silver medal with the quadruple sculls at the World Rowing Championships.

After a race in Mannheim 1987, she did not travel back to Romania, but remained in Germany. In 1989 and 1990 she was German champion in One. The beginning of 1989, she received asylum in Germany and in 1990 she won the Rowing World Cup in one of its own.
