Matt Bartkowski

Matt Bartkowski ( born June 4, 1988 in Mt Lebanon, Pennsylvania) is an American professional ice hockey player who is since March 2010 by the Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League contract. In parallel, he comes for their farm team, the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League action.

Career

Youth

Matt Bartkowski played in his hometown of Mt Lebanon, a suburb of Pittsburgh, at high school level for the Mt Lebanon High School Blue Devils and led them in 2006 as a captain to the first state championship in 30 years. He then left his home and was henceforth in over 1000 miles away for the Lincoln Stars in the United States Hockey League on the ice. After initial difficulties in the first year, he scored in the following season 2007/ 08 41 points in 60 games with the team reached the semi-finals to the Clark Cup and was selected in the USHL First All -Star Team. In the next NHL Entry Draft 2008 Bartkowski was selected to 190th position from the Florida Panthers. From the summer of 2008, he then attended The Ohio State University and played for the Buckeyes in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. Already in the first season there he was on 20 points in 41 games and was named team in the CCHA All- Rookie end of the season.

Boston Bruins

Even before the following sophomore year was over, the Panthers transferred him in March 2010 together with Dennis Seidenberg of the Boston Bruins and received in return, Byron Bitz, Craig Weller and a two- round draft pick for the NHL Entry Draft in 2010. Already in April the same year signed Bartkowski an Entry Level Contract with the Bruins, so he got these available now and his time at Ohio State was over. Following the preparation for the 2010/11 season the defense was delivered as expected to the AHL farm team of the Bruins, the Providence Bruins.

Bartkowski spent much of the 2010/11 season in the AHL until he was appointed in January 2011 due to the injury of Mark Stuart for the first time in the NHL squad and on January 10, 2013, calculated against the team from his home, the Pittsburgh Penguins his NHL debut. During the regular season was followed by another five operations; also Bartkowski was regularly in play-off squad the Bruins, who, without, however, he got the Ice Age, won the Stanley Cup. This situation changed during the entire 2011/12 season not know where he primarily came in the NHL for the Providence Bruins and in only three games for use. In the AHL he came meanwhile to 22 points in 50 games; but had to pause at the end of the season due to injury.

In the following season was Bartkowski mostly in the AHL on the ice, but was able to increase his NHL - inserts to eleven. He also took the Boston Bruins again to the Stanley Cup play-offs in part, came here for the first time, however, scoring as in the second game of the Conference quarter-final against the Toronto Maple Leafs his first NHL goal. Boston failed only in the final of the Stanley Cup with 2:4 to the Chicago Blackhawks. With the beginning of season 2013/14 Bartkowski is fixed in the NHL squad and is regularly used.
