Geography
Merten village is about 6 km southeast of Naumburg ( Saale). As districts of the municipality, the following are reported:

History
The village was first mentioned in 1030 when Martin village documented.
On 1 January 2010, the formerly independent communities Mertendorf merged ( with the districts Punkewitz weather Scheidt ) Löbitz ( with the districts Utenbach, Cauer wit and Seiselitz ) and Görschen ( with the districts Droitzen, Rathewitz and Scheiplitz ) to the new community Mertendorf.

Economy and infrastructure
Traffic
At the federal highway 180, which runs north of the town of Naumburg ( Saale) by Zeitz, is about 2 km. Mertendorf is since 1900 breakpoint on the railway line Naumburg - Teuchern. The passenger traffic was discontinued in December 2011.
