Michael Schär

Michael Schär ( born September 29, 1986 in Geuensee ) is a Swiss cyclist.

Sporting career

As a junior archipelago won two World Cup races and finished fourth in the time trial world championship. He is already a six-time Swiss champion. In the different age classes, he was twice each road and time trial champion and one champion in the team time trial. As a U23 rider, he won next to the Swiss time trial championship and the Cup Arif, a total score of eight taking place in Switzerland Races. Due to his good performances he was taken by Manolo Saiz in the youth team of Liberty Seguros. As of July 2006, he signed a contract for the first team.

In response to the doping scandal archipelago announced the contract with the Liberty Seguros team and pushes from 1 August to ProTeam Phonak.

Since the Phonak Cycling Team set on racing at the end of 2006 Michael Schär had to find a new team again. He signed with Astana for two years ( through 2008 ). After three years, he finally joined the BMC team.

At the Tour de France 2013 Schär was from an injury he had suffered in a fall on the seventh stage, forced to give up after the ninth stage.
