Military Archbishopric of Spain

The Spanish Military Ordinariate is the Military Ordinariate in Spain and in charge of the Spanish armed forces.

History

The Spanish Military Ordinariate cared for members of the Spanish armed forces of Catholic religious affiliation pastoral. It was Pope Pius XII. created as a military vicariate on August 5, 1950. After a mutual decision between the Holy See and the Kingdom of Spain, the seat of the Spanish Military Ordinariate in Madrid. It was elevated to a diocese by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution spirituality Soldiers curae on July 21, 1986.
