The station Naarden - Bussum is the largest railway station in the Dutch town of Bussum. It lies on the border of the municipality Naarden. The station is used by approximately 12,000 people a day (2006). He is a central hub in urban public transport.

History

The first station was opened on 10 June 1874, the railway line Amsterdam - Zutphen. The current station building, designed by HGJ Schelling, was opened in 1926. The still existing central platform dates back to 1917. The current building has no bends, just straight shapes. The style can be described as cubist expressionism. The shape is asymmetrical. The hall dominates the whole, both outside and inside.

The station was until August 1, 1958 and the end point for the tram line to Huizen.

On the north side of the station, on the border between Bussum and Naarden, is one of the last non - automatically operated railway gates.
