Life and career

For the first time she drew attention to himself at the European Championships in 1975 with a total of four victories. With the Summer Olympic Games in Montreal in 1976, she managed at the age of 14 years as the first gymnast a 10.0 on the uneven bars. The note was displayed on the scoreboard than 1.00 because the scoreboards a two-digit score did not represent: The maximum score of 10.0 had previously been considered unreachable and had never been awarded before. Comaneci also won gold on balance beam and in the all around, silver and bronze with the team on the ground. In the same year she was honored with the Athlete of the Year award from the Associated Press and voted European Athlete of the Year. At the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, she won gold on beam and floor as well as silver in the all around and with the team. The following year, Comaneci declared their retirement from competitive sport.

In 1989, Comaneci fled to the United States. In 1996, she married in Bucharest the former U.S. gymnast Bart Conner. The couple has a son named Dylan Paul Conner (born 3 June 2006) and lives in Norman, Oklahoma.

1984 Comănecis life under the title "Nadia" was filmed for television. It was included as a second gymnast Olga Korbut after the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 1993.
