Neyruz-sur-Moudon

Neyruz -sur -Moudon was until December 31, 2012, a municipality in the district Gros- de -Vaud in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. By the end of 1952, the community was called officially Neyruz (VD ), but was renamed for better distinguishability with Neyruz in the Canton of Fribourg.

On January 1, 2013, it merged with the municipalities Chanéaz, Chapelle- sur- Moudon, Correvon Denezy, Martherenges, Peyre -Possens, Saint- Cierges and Thierrens the new community Montanaire.

Geography

Neyruz -sur -Moudon situated 765 m above sea level. Level, 23 km north-east of the canton capital Lausanne ( straight line ). The village street line extends on the edge of a plateau between the valleys of the west and the Lembe Cerjaule in the east, in Molassehügelland the northern Vaud Mittelland.

Population

With 119 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) Neyruz -sur -Moudon one of the smallest municipalities in the canton of Vaud. Of the 97.5 % inhabitants are French-speaking, German-speaking 1.7 % and 0.8 % speak Albanian (as of 2000). The population of Neyruz -sur -Moudon amounted in 1900 to 215 inhabitants. History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1168 under the name Nuirul. Later, the names Nyroul published ( 1261 ) and Neyriouz ( 1359 ). The place name comes from the Latin word nucariolum ( walnut grove ).

Since the mid-14th century was under Neyruz -sur -Moudon the Savoy Kastlanei Moudon. With the conquest of Vaud by Bern in 1536, the village came under the administration of the bailiwick Moudon. After the collapse of the ancien régime Neyruz -sur -Moudon belonged from 1798 to 1803 during the Helvetic Republic to the canton of Geneva, who came up then with the enactment of the Act of Mediation in the canton of Vaud. 1798 was assigned to the District Moudon.

Attractions
