Nordhofen

Nordhofen ( dialect: Noorden ) is a municipality in the Westerwald district in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of seltzer (Westerwald ). Nordhofen is a nationally recognized tourist.

Geographical location

The nationally recognized tourist Nordhofen is located on the now disused for passenger stretch of Westerwaldbahn Siershahn - old churches (or the railway Passengers -Au ) in the middle of a mountainous and wooded with beech and spruce landscape.

History

The village was mentioned in 1259 for the first time in a document. In 1357, Emperor Charles IV in Maastricht Count Wilhelm of Wied the right to expand Nordhofen to a city. He received the right to " the village and his concept with moats, walls, towers, bay windows, doors and may be different as he and likes besteinen, tees and comprehend a brick shop and make like hindernus without someone talking and resist ." Due to the lack of natural conditions for a city complex Nordhofen failed to develop properly. The city rights remained unused. In 1653, Emperor Ferdinand III. at the request of the then Count Friedrich III. of Wied to the more conveniently located new settlement Neuwied.

Religions

To protestant church includes the villages of Nordhofen, Mogendorf, Vielbach and Quirnbach. By the year 1851 seltzer and surrounding villages belong to the church community.

Parish council

The local council in Nordhofen consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
