Weidenhahn

Weidenhahn ( dialect: Wäirehohn ) is a municipality in the Westerwald district in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of seltzer (Westerwald ).

Geography

Weidenhahn lies in the Westerwald between Hachenburg in the north, Westerburg in the east, Montabaur in the south and 6 km west-southwest gelegenem seltzer at the confluence of willow and Steinchesbach. It is located just south-southeast of the Westerwald Lake.

About 2 km north-east of the village stands since 1998 on the Bright Mountain (491 m above sea level. NN ) an observation tower with a view, inter alia, the Westerwald.

History

Documented Weidenhahn was mentioned in 1200 under the name Weidenhagen first time. Other names over time: Weidenhayn, Wedinhane, Weidinhan, Weidenhayn and Weidenhahn.

Parish council

The local council in Weidenhahn consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 of personalized proportional representation, and the honorary mayor as chairman. The twelve seats in the municipal council are divided into two groups of voters.
