Hartenfels

Hard rock ( dialect: Harbels ) is a municipality in the Westerwald district in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of seltzer (Westerwald ).

Geographical location

Hard Rock is located at Wood Creek and about 4 km from Herschbach and 8 kilometers of seltzer (Westerwald ). Neighboring municipalities are Herschbach and leg mountain in the west, the east and Maxsain stones in the south of the church. A small, belonging to Hard Rock Forest area of the hard Kopf, is located north of the village on the B8 between Freilingen and Höchstenbach outside the district boundaries.

History and Sights

The hard rock castle was first mentioned in ancient writings in 1249. 1332 was the place rock hard by Ludwig the Bavarian town rights of Frankfurt, which was confirmed in 1346 by Charles IV. The place is known for its ruined castle ruins since 1593, only the tower is from the exception of a few walls. It is of a similar Creamer tower of a castle, which was built in the mid 13th century to monitor the nearby trade route from Frankfurt to Cologne.

It belonged to the Countess Matilda of Sayn from the legacy of her late husband in 1246 Henry III. von Sayn and came under Archbishop Arnold II of Isenburg to the Electorate of Trier.

The ruin is named Schmanddippe in dialect. 1999 celebrated the town hard rock its 750th anniversary.

Parish council

The most important employer is the company Huf Haus GmbH & Co. KG with 470 employees.

Wind farm Hartenfelser head

In summer 2006, 12 wind turbines were completed Enercon E-70 on the Hartenfelser head. These provide approximately 12,500 households. It is thus one of the largest wind farm projects in a forest that has ever been implemented in the Federal Republic. 4 wind turbines are in the district hard rock.

Regular events
