Oleg Ovsyannikov

Oleg Vladimirovich Ovsyannikov (Russian Олег Владимирович Овсянников, born January 23, 1970 in Moscow, Soviet Union ) is a former Russian figure skater, who started ice dancing for the Soviet Union and Russia.

At the age of four years Ovsyannikov ill with pneumonia. After he had recovered them, the doctors advised his parents to him any sporting activities, best in the fresh air. So he came to the ice-skating. With ten years he switched from single drive to ice dancing. Ovsyannikov was one of the last students of Lyudmila Pakhomova. On the side of Maria Orlova, he won the 1988 World Junior Championship. With Jelena Kustarowa he stood on the podium in 1993 and 1994 at the Russian Eistanzmeisterschaften.

From the season 1994/1995 Anschelika Krylova was his Eistanzpartnerin. The couple in Newark, Delaware was trained by the ice dance Olympic champions in 1980, Natalia and Gennadi Linitschuk Karponossow. Krylova and Ovsyannikov were Russian champions from the start. In her debut at the European Championships, they won the bronze medal and in their World Cup debut they finished fifth.

At the European Championships in 1996, 1997 and 1998, the World Championships in 1996 and 1997 and the Olympic Games Krylova and Ovsyannikov always won the silver medal behind their compatriots and Yevgeny Platov Oksana Grishchuk. After their withdrawal, they won at the World Championships in Minneapolis in 1998 their first title. In 1999 she became European Champion in Prague and defended their World Championship title in Helsinki. It was her last competitions, as doctors in preparation for the new season Krylova counseled End of career, as she ran back problems due to existing risk of suffering from paralysis. Krylova advised Ovsyannikov his career with another runner resume, which he refused, however. After a year's break both ran in the pros.

Ovsyannikov worked as a trainer in Newark, New Jersey, with his wife Angelika Kirch Mayr, a Russian ice skater, who won the 1989 World Junior Championship. Their daughter came in 2006 to the world. In 2007 Ovsyannikov was appointed by the Russian Federation to the head coach of the national synchronized skating lineup.
