Sergei Novitski

Sergei Novitski (Russian: Сергей Николаевич Новицкий; born 16 May 1981 in Moscow, Soviet Union ) is a former Russian figure skater, who started ice dancing.

Novitsky began in 1986 with the figure skating. But since he only could stand double jumps, he moved at the age of 13 years for ice dancing.

His first Eistanzpartnerinnen were Oksana Goncharenko and Natalia Lepetjucha. Since October 2001, Jana Khokhlova was his partner. The ice dance trained initially at Larissa Filina and from 2003 at LAP couple Swinin Alexander and Irina Zhuk.

In 2006, Khokhlova and Novitski debuted at Olympic Games, World and European Championships. 2008, they were the first time Russian champion and won bronze, each with their first medals at World and European Championships. In 2009 she defended her national championship title in Helsinki and were European champions. At the World Cup, it was enough only for sixth place. The following year, Khokhlova and Novitski won bronze at the European Championships her last medal. The Vancouver Olympics they finished in ninth place. At the World Cup, they had to give up due to an injury Nowizkis. It was her last competition. Novitsky had been injured in 2006 in a car accident and never really recovered from it. When it was no longer possible for him to train sufficiently intense, he declared in April 2010 that he will retire from competitive skating.
