Over the Hills and Far Away is the title of an EP by the Finnish band Nightwish. The title song was originally written by Gary Moore ( 1986).

Background

Music

The title song " Over the Hills and Far Away" is a cover version of the rock and blues guitarist Gary Moore. The accompanying music video, in which the entire band was first shown, was shot in the Estonian capital Tallinn on the Baltic Sea.

"10th Man Down " is a duet between Turunen and the former singer of the band Finntroll, Tapio Wilska. This had already participated in the songs "Devil & The Deep Dark Ocean" and "The Pharaoh Sails to Orion" on the album Oceanborn.

"Astral Romance " is a remake of the song on Angels Fall First. Instead keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen sings in this version Tony Kakko, known as the singer of the band Sonata Arctica. The lyrics are slightly altered from the original.

While originally published in Finland version of " Over the Hills and Far Away" contains only four songs, a version was released with some live versions of the From Wishes to Eternity concert in other countries.

Reception

In Finland, Over the Hills and Far Away was awarded first place in the singles chart after several weeks with a platinum record. In Germany, the EP came in at number 85, number 54 in Austria and Switzerland ranked 79th DVDPlus A - variant in which are located on one side audio and video tracks on the other side, reached # 4 on the German music DVD Charts; because Media Control 's evaluation of this version as a normal DVD and not as an audio CD, the placement fell into the album charts from comparatively low.
