Geography

Penne Witz is located in the northern foothills of the Thuringian Forest between the highlands in the south and the monastery forest Paulinzella in the north. To the east of the village lies the Rinnetal, west of the Gehrener wetland. Due to the concern district west of Pennewitz the watershed between Ilm and Saale runs.
