Geography

Wild Spring is on the Großbreitenbacher plateau between the highlands to the west and the Schwarzadal in the east. North of the village lies the valley of the Junker Bach, south flows the Kurau. Both are tributaries of the Schwarza. The Wild Springer Forest lies east of town on the western slope of the Schwarzatal. The mountain of wild Spring is the 667 meters high, treeless Beerberg.

History

The village was first mentioned in 1370. The manor belonged to the place where von Holleben. By 1920 Wildenspring one of Schwarzburg- Rudolstadt, then to the district Arnstadt, 1952-1994 Ilmenau to the circle and since 1994 Ilm-Kreis.

Policy

The municipality belongs to the administrative community Großbreitenbach. The administrative headquarters are in the town Großbreitenbach.

Economy and Transport

The inhabitants Wild Springs lived for centuries of weaving, agriculture and forestry. Today, most wild Springer work outside it place. Furthermore, fluorspar was mined for the smelter Mankenbach near the place.

From Wildenspring is only one road that connects the village with Bohlen.
