Pierre-Emmanuel Dalcin

Pierre -Emmanuel Dalcin (born 15 February 1977 Saint -Jean -de- Maurienne ) is a French former alpine skier. He was a member from 1997 to 2010 the French national ski team and was specialized in the speed disciplines Downhill and Super -G. The two-time French champions played from 1998 until an injury in late 2009 145 World Cup races, drove nine times in the top ten and won a downhill. At the World Championships and Olympic Winter Games he went five times into the top 15

Career

After participating in FIS races Dalcin came in December 1995 for the first time in the European Cup for use. He celebrated a first international success at the Junior World Championship in 1996 in the Swiss high -Ybrig by winning the bronze medal in the Super -G.

In January 1998, the Frenchman gave his debut in the Ski World Cup in Kitzbühel. The first World Cup points he brought on 27 November 1999 in the departure of Vail. Two years later, on 7 December 2001, he reached in the Super G in Val d'Isere sixth and rode it for the first time in the top ten. His first world championship is in St. Anton 2001, he finished with the ninth place in the Super G and 15th place in the downhill, each as best Frenchman. The 2001/2002 season was his most successful overall in the Super- G, end of the season, he finished in 13th place in the discipline standings. At the Olympic Games in 2002 in Salt Lake City, he came in at number eleven on the descent; a year later he was at the 2003 World Championships in St. Moritz 15th in the downhill.

The first podium finish in the World Cup succeeded Dalcin February 1, 2004 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen. In the super -G, he took second place, which by far his best result this season figured just another time he came in the top twenty. Also in the 2004/2005 season he could reach the top 20 only once and came at the World Championships 2005 in Bormio does not rank 31 in the downhill and super-G Rank 32 in addition. In the 2005/2006 season, he reached in the downhill in Bormio again a top 10 finish, finishing at the Olympic Games 2006 in Turin eleventh place in the downhill.

His only World Cup victory celebrated Pierre -Emmanuel Dalcin in the downhill in Val d'Isere on 20 January 2007. Together with two other placements in the top ten, he reached in 2006/2007 in the downhill World Cup standings with 13th place his best result. In the World Cup downhill for Åre he was number 19, the Super -G, he could not finish. In the seasons 2007/2008 and 2008/2009 Dalcin drove only rarely among the top twenty. At the 2009 World Championships in Val d'Isère, he was 18th in the downhill and super-G 22.

On 4 December 2009 Dalcin came in downhill training on the Birds of Prey piste in Beaver Creek heavy crash. He suffered torn ligaments in both knees, a concussion, a broken spoke in the right arm and injuries to his shoulder and face. In October 2010, he announced his retirement from ski racing.
