Pott stone is a town in the district of Bayreuth ( the district of Upper Franconia). The state-approved climatic health resort lies in the Franconian Switzerland.

Geography

Geographical Location

In the vicinity of the district Hohenmirsberg the Hohenmirsberger plate is ( observation tower at 614 meters high, one of the highest points in the Franconian Switzerland ). In Leienfels district (about 15 houses) located the ruins Leienfels ( viewpoint at 590 meters above sea level ).

History

The story stone pot can be traced back to the first documentary mention 918. In 1323 it received city rights. The city Pott stone was Obervogt Office of the Bishopric of Bamberg. In a town fire in 1736 60 houses were destroyed and the town church was damaged.

Since the Imperial Diet of 1803 the place belonged to Bavaria. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community.

From 1942 to 1945, there was in the lean barn a subcamp of the concentration camp Flossenbiirg in which had to do forced labor for military installations 746 prisoners. This included the construction of the SS, the 1942/43, ran a training camp for about 600 members of the SS - Karst military there. No evidence recalls in place at this event.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1972, the formerly independent communities Haßlach and Kirchenbirkig as well as parts of the territory of the dissolved municipality Tüchersfeld were incorporated. On 1 July 1972, added Püttlach. On 1 January 1975 Vorderkleebach followed. The round of incorporations was completed with the inclusion of the community Hohenmirsberg on 1 January 1978, and the communities Kühlenfels, amateur rock and Regenthal and part of the dissolved municipality Elbersberg on 1 May 1978.
