Premosello-Chiovenda

Premosello - Chiovenda is a municipality with 2043 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Italian province of Verbano -Cusio -Ossola (VB ), Region Piedmont, on the Simplon railway line Domodossola - Milan.

Location and data

The historical name Premosello was expanded in 1959 to Premosello - Chiovenda in memory of the lawyer Giuseppe Chiovenda ( Premosello, 1872-1937 ).

The neighboring municipalities are Anzola d' Ossola, Beura - Cardezza, Cossogno, Mergozzo, Ornavasso, Pieve Vergonte, San Bernardino Verbano, Trontano and Vogogna.

The municipality covers an area of 34 km ².

Economy

As one of the very few Italian municipalities Premosello - Chiovenda has a local, autonomous electricity supply. The power station (Pro - Colloro ) goes back to 1929 and is run as a foundation.

Traffic

The train station of Premosello - Chiovenda has a regional significance (such as that of Vogogna ) as the transfer point from routes Domodossola - Milan and Domodossola - Omegna - Novara.
