Mergozzo

Mergozzo is a municipality with 2211 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Italian province of Verbano -Cusio -Ossola (VB ), Region Piedmont.

Geography

The village lies at an altitude of 196 m above sea level in the Val d' Ossola. The municipality covers an area of 27.35 km ². In Mergozzo the lake Mergozzo is. Mergozzo is located near the Bay of Verbania Lake Maggiore. Lake Orta is 10 kilometers away. The Toce river flows west past Mergozzo and flows near Verbania in Lake Maggiore. The municipality is located on the railway line Domodossola - Milan.

The municipality consists of the villages ( frazioni ) Albo, Bracchio, Candoglia and Nibbio. Other settlements are Bettola, Campone, Lanca, Montorfano Portaiolo and Prato Michelaccio.

The neighboring municipalities are Grave Toce, Ornavasso, Premosello - Chiovenda, San Bernardino Verbano and Verbania.
