Valstrona
Valstrona is a municipality with 1269 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Italian province of Verbano -Cusio -Ossola (VB ), Region Piedmont.
The neighboring municipalities are Anzola d' Ossola, Calasca - Castiglione, Cravagliana, Loreglia, Massiola, Ornavasso, Pieve Vergonte Quarna Sopra Sotto Quarna, Rimella, Varallo Sesia and Sabbia. The patron saint of the village is San Giuseppe.
Geography
The location is situated 27 km from Verbania at an altitude of 475 m above sea level. The municipality covers an area of 48.94 km ².
The high-lying valley communities Forno or Campello Monti, alternative starting points for the official beginning in Anzasca Valley 55 -day long-distance trail Grande Traversata delle Alpi (GTA ).
History
The community Valstrona in 1927 and set up initially united all the places in the valley of the river Strona ( Fornero, Forno, Germagno, Loreglia, Luzzogno, Massiola and Sambughetto ) than the location Campello Monti, which in 1929 was come. 1955 this community association was dissolved again and now only includes the villages Strona and Campello Monti to the community. The origins of the main town Strona are in the Middle Ages.
