Punta Carretas
Punta Carretas is a neighborhood ( barrio ) of the Uruguayan capital, Montevideo.
Location and geography
Punta Carretas, located at the two major thoroughfares montevideanischen Rambla and Bulevar Artigas, is the southernmost headland protruding than in the Río de la Plata area of the city. To the north it borders the Parque Rodó and Pocitos district.

Currently, here are 24 679 inhabitants recorded (as of 2005).
Description
Here you will find about the built 1917-1927 in neo-Romanesque style church Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Sagrado Corazón and the Built in 1876, the lighthouse of Punta Carretas. Even the Museo Zorrilla is located here. Moreover, in the former prison Punta Carretas is ( Establecimiento Penitenciario de Punta Carretas ) housed one of the large, multi- storey shopping malls of the capital, the so-called Punta Carretas Shopping. Other important monuments in the area are the Casa Casabo, Casa Reborati, Casa Bello, the Casa de Tomás Diago, the Castillo Pittamiglio, the Edificio O'Higgins, the Casa Gimeneo, the Edificio El Indio or the Casa Cravotto. In Parva Domus Magna Quies is the seat of the República de la Parva Domus Magna Quies. From Punta Carretas the rugby club Stade Gaulois Pucaru also comes ( PSG).
