Villa del Cerro

, Also briefly called Villa del Cerro Cerro, is a neighborhood ( barrio ) of the Uruguayan capital, Montevideo.

Location and geography

It is located northwest of the city center, the old town opposite the bay of Montevideo in the south of the department of Montevideo. Villa del Cerro borders it to the south and south-east by the Rio de la Plata. To the west lies the district Casabo - Pajas Blancas while connecting to the north of La Paloma - Tomkinson and Tres Ombúes Pueblo Victoria. In the northeast, La Teja continues the urban area. For the latter two districts of Arroyo Pantanoso forms a natural border. With the Cerro de Montevideo is the highest elevation in Montevideo Villa del Cerro.

Included is the center of the district, starting from the southwest clockwise from the formed by the following streets Border line: Polonia, P Arispe, Prof. J Chebataroff, Camino Ciblis, Avenida Federico Ing E. Capurro, Haiti, Avenida Dr. Carlos Santín Rossi and Haiti.

Villa del Cerro has with the area under the line Elder Silva since 2001 Teatro Florencio Sánchez, a theater.

Sports

Villa del Cerro home to two football clubs Cerro and Rampla Juniors. Here guests will find the Estadio Olímpico in the Rampla Juniors unsubscribe their home games.

Attractions

On the Cerro de Montevideo, the Fortaleza General Artigas rises. Furthermore, at the Barrio are the Plaza de los Immigrantes and the cemetery Cementerio del Cerro.
