Radical 3

Radical 3 with the meaning " point " is one of six of the 214 traditional radicals of Chinese characters that are written with just one stroke.

With four combinations of signs in Mathews ' Chinese - English Dictionary, there are very few characters that can be found at this radical in the lexicons. Also in the Kangxi Dictionary, there are no more than 10 characters under this radical.

The radical 3 as part of point (点diǎn ) to the eight principles of the character永(永字八法Yǒngzì Bāfǎ ), are the basis of Chinese calligraphy. The current form of the character in the form of a drop comes from the use of the writing brush. Originally, it had the shape of a small circle.
