Rae Parish

Rae ( German: Johannishof ) is a rural municipality in Harju County Estonia with an area of ​​206.7 km ². It has 12,680 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011).

In addition to the main town Jüri ( 3350 inhabitants) belong to the municipality the villages Aaviku, Aruvalla, Assaku, Järveküla, Kadaka, Karla, Kautjala, Kopli, Qurna, Lehmja, Lagedi, Limu, Pajupea, Patika, Peetri, Pildiküla, Rae, Salu, Seli, Soodevahe, Suuresta, Suursoo, Tuulevälja, Ülejõe Urvaste, Vaida, Vaidasoo, Vaskjala, Veneküla and Veskitaguse.

The villages Karla and Lehmja were already mentioned in 1241. The manor of Lehmja was built in 1622, the place, however, in 1765 almost completely destroyed. From 1713 to 1748 was Anton Thor Helle pastor of Jüri. From 1728 to 1738 he worked on the translation of the Bible in the North Estonian literary language, which appeared in 1738.
