Raasiku Parish

The community Raasiku ( German: Rasik ) is a rural municipality in Harju County Estonia with an area of 1558 km ². It has 4358 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2010).

Structure

In addition to the main town Aruküla (1866 inhabitants) belong to the municipality the villages Härma, Igavere, Järsi, Kalesi Kiviloo, Kulli, Kurgla, Mallavere, Peningi, Perila, Pikavere, Raasiku, Rätla and Tõhelgi.

History

As in 1219, the Danish conquerors came from the sea, probably one of the first decisive battles with the natives took place around Peningi. Raasiku itself was first mentioned in 1241 in Liber Census Daniae. The manor of Kiviloo was from 1322, but was completely destroyed during the Livonian War.
