History
In the municipality, the Bishopric of Würzburg and the monastery Ebrach shared the rule. In today's district Fabrikschleichach there was a first Würzburg glassworks, which was established among others by Balthasar Neumann. Because the areas of the monastery were not counted in the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss to Wurzburg, ( the Bishopric of Würzburg in 1805 ) were his possessions until 1810 when boundary adjustments to the Grand Duchy. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria emerged with the community of 1818 several independent churches.
The community name derives from a river, the roughening Ebrach, lie at the headwaters of most places.
Religions
Most inhabitants are Roman Catholic and belong to the parish Rauhenebrach. Most of the villages have their own church.
