Reflections (Care Enough)

2001

Reflections ( Care Enough ) is a song by American singer Mariah Carey from her eighth album music glitter. The song was written by her and Philippe Pierre and produced by her along with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. The ballad is based on Carey's character Billie Frank in the movie Glitter, with the song she describes that her mother has "not enough" taken care of her. The song is also included on Carey's compilation album The Ballads in 2009.

Background

Reflections ( Care Enough ) was released in late 2001 as the fourth single from the album, but Carey was promoting the song not in the United States. Because of disputes with Sony Music Entertainment, Carey's record company, prompted the producer of glitter that Reflections ( Care Enough ) will be released only in Japan.

Carey performed the song on the CBS show At Home for the Holidays with Mariah Carey on 21 December 2001 for the first time before American audiences. A scene of the movie Glitter, where Carey (as Billie Frank) sings the song in her apartment, was used in Asia as a teaser for the film.

In live performances, Carey often altered the content of the song. In the song Carey sings: " You Could have had the decency to give me up before you gave me life. " In live Auftrittens Carey sang many times: " ... give me up the day you gave me life", as a reference for abortion.
