Shake It Off

Shake It Off is a song by Mariah Carey. It was produced by her, Jermaine Dupri, Bryan -Michael Cox and Johnta Austin for Carey's tenth studio album The Emancipation of Mimi in 2005 and was published on 12 July 2005 in the United States as the third single of the album.

Publication and reviews

"Shake It Off " was released in the U.S. on July 12, 2005 as a CD single and digital download. The remix version of the song was by DJ Clue - which already produced the remix of Carey's previous single, " We Belong Together" - and produced the guest rappers Jay -Z and Young Jeezy. It was released as a download on 20 July 2005 in the United States.

Bill Lamb of About.com said, " Shake It Off ", in comparison with the previous single a flop and a poorer by Mariah Carey's song. " Dan Gennoe of Yahoo! Music called the song" Usher moderate ", Sal Cinquemani of Slant Magazine called "Shake It Off " and " usher in the kind of Dupri " and stated the song as " worst song of the album [ ... ] in the Mariah Carey rather than imitating other singers to pay attention to the quality of the songs. Commercial success

In the U.S., debuted "Shake It Off " on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 66, the highest debut in the week of release. In the 7th week in the charts, the song reached number two behind Carey's successful single We Belong Together. This Carey became the first female artist who had two songs on the first two places on the Billboard Hot 100. "Shake It Off " was six weeks at No. 2 after " We Belong Together" fell from No. 1; it was behind Kanye West 's number -one hit " Gold Digger". It remained for 26 weeks in the Billboard Hot 100 in Billboard Magazine on the Hot 100 charts of the year 2005 ranked the song 15th place

The song could not repeat the success of We Belong Together outside the United States. He reached the top five in New Zealand and number 6 in Australia and as a double A-side with the song " Get Your Number" number 9 in the UK and Ireland, as well as in some other countries, the top twenty.

Music Video

The Director Jake Nava led to the music video. The video begins with Carey and her boyfriend, whom she informed that she wants to separate from him. She grabs her things, leaving the mansion and goes to a restaurant. There she meets Chris Tucker, with whom she wants to start a relationship. You go to the car and Chris Tucker is surrounded by several women who dance for him. Carey attended a football match, where they weitersingt their song on the field. The video includes a cameo appearance by a young girl who already had an appearance in the music video to Carey's single " Fantasy" from 1995, and a cameo appearance by Boo Boo Stewart. The video was nominated for the category Best R & B Video at the MTV Video Music Awards 2006.
