Fly Like a Bird is a song by American singer Mariah Carey from her tenth music album The Emancipation of Mimi ( 2005). The song was written and produced by her and James " Big Jim " Wright. It was released on 3 April 2006 as the last single from the album. In the song, the protagonist speaks to God: " Fly like a bird, take to the sky, I need you now Lord, carry me high! "
Background
Carey wrote the song and composed the melody, while Wright dealt with the song structure. Carey later wrote the rest of the song and asked her pastor, Clarence Keaton, if he can talk in song. Keaton said, and spoke from the Bible. " Weeping june endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning" Carey described the song as " their favorite song from the album, as it contains a very spiritual message .... And I felt the message was important and mmusste necessarily be included on this album, so the song is not until the last place deas album. Billboard magazine described the song as a " classic" and described it as " other career hit for Carey. "

On 3 April 2006 Fly Like a Bird was released as a single in the United States and sent immediately to the American radio stations. Fly Like a Bird did not make it into the Billboard Hot 100, but instead at No. 19 on the Hot R & B / Hip- Hop charts and reached for six weeks # 1 on the Hot Adult R & B Airplay charts. In the American R & B / Hip Hop charts to Fly Like a Bird proved to be durable and spent over a year in the charts.
For the song Carey took on a remix with Kanye West and Melonie Daniels, which was not published. The remix version Samplet Earth, Wind & Fires song Keep Your Head to the Sky. Tracy Young and Maurice Joshua produced the remix version.
At the Grammy Awards 2006 Carey led before a medley of We Belong Together and Fly Like a Bird and got here by all those present applause. Carey sang the song even with Idol Gives Back American Idol ' on April 9, 2008. During the presence Randy Jackson played the bass guitar. This live performance was later released on iTunes as a single.
