Geographical Location

Reut in the region Landshut amidst typical Lower Bavarian hills just 9 km north of Simbach or 10 miles from Braunau, 15 km south of the district town parish churches, 20 km southeast of Eggenfelden and 25 km northeast of Burghausen. The nearest railway stations on the railway line Mühldorf - Simbach are Simbach (10 km) and Julbach (13 km).

History

Reut belonged to Rentamt Burghausen and the district court Julbach of the Electorate of Bavaria. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818 the municipality Reut.

On January 1, 1904 Reut Municipality was re- formed as a spin- out of the church Eggstetten. The church today is the result of merging the small communities Taubenbach, Reut and boundary Ling in the course of municipal reform in Bavaria, which entered into force on 1 April 1971. This administrative matters with the community Tann was formed simultaneously. The largest towns in the rural community are Taubenbach, Reut and Noppling. The municipality has 1.761 inhabitants and Reut an area of 32 km ².

On January 1, 1980, a territory with less than 100 inhabitants, was reclassified into the market Tann.

Culture and sights

The late-Gothic parish church of St. Stephen was expanded in 1895. It has a Baroque interior.

The Pilgrimage Church of St. Alban in Taubenbach together with the vicarage a late Gothic ensemble. The high altar of the Church shaped the brothers Zürn. In the vicinity of Taubenbach consist trails.
