Geography

Geographical Location

Ribbesbüttel lies on the southern edge of the Lüneburg Heath on the Pape Teicher plateau, about 20 km north of Brunswick and about 5 km south of Gifhorn. The community belongs to the Samtgemeinde Isenbuttel, which has its headquarters in the town of Isenbuttel. The municipal area, between the villages Druffelbeck, hot constable and east of the creek Vollbüttel full büttel Riede flows, west of Vollbüttel the cattle Moorgraben.

History

Ribbesbüttel 1007 was first mentioned in documents as Rikbaldesgebutle and settlement belongs historically to the constable - towns. In the Middle Ages the village belonged to the reign of the noble lords of Meinersen who were close to the Guelphs. When Duke Otto the severity of Lüneburg in 1316, the castle took Meinersen, Ribbesbüttel came to the Principality of Lüneburg. 1548 Castle Ribbesbüttel was mentioned, which is mapped to a Merian engraving from 1654. Today's castle building is a new building of 1905.

Incorporations

On March 1, 1974, the municipality Ausbüttel and the main part of the dissolved municipality Vollbüttel were incorporated.

From the last local elections in 2011, the following composition of the local council gave ( in brackets the results of the year 2006):

  • CDU: 48.5 % ( 58.68 %), 6 seats ( 8 seats)
  • SPD: 51.5 % ( 41.32 %), 7 seats ( 5 seats )

The turnout was 54.13 %.

The honorary mayor Ulf Kehlert was elected on November 9, 2011.

On the occasion of the millennium celebrations in 2007, the community Ribbesbüttel has chosen a coat of arms.
