Geography

Geographical location

Riet -Weilheim is on the edge of the Great Heuberg on the south-western Swabian Alb. The vast majority of the community is located in the valley of the sluggard Bach.

Neighboring communities

In the north, cities Spaichingen and Balgheim adjoin, east Dürbheim and the district Nendingen the county seat Tuttlingen, in the south and in the west Wurmlingen Seitingen- Oberflacht and Hausen. It touches Riet -Weilheim the districts of Nendingen and Mülheim only at a single point in Ursental.

Community structure

Riet -Weilheim consists of the formerly independent communities of reed and Weilheim.

For the former municipality Rietheim include the village Rietheim, the hamlet Bulzingen, which was incorporated in 1934 and probably the oldest part of the village, Heuchen, Hoefle, Lupbühl, Rußberg and Schmidten and the homestead throats.

For the former town Weilheim part of the village Weilheim. In the territory of the former municipality of Weilheim is the Outbound castle Fürstenstein.

Rietheim is from Weilheim about a kilometer away, Rußberg is about 1.5 km as the crow Riet home and about 2 km as the crow flies from Weilheim. The actual distance to the located on the Heuberg - Alb plateau Rußberg is however a lot bigger because of the difference in height of about 300 meters above sea level is bridged with switchbacks.

St. George's Parish Church

Was already at the beginning of the 14th century, set in present-day district of Weilheim, the cornerstone of which was built in the Gothic style George's Chapel. The chapel was dedicated to Saint St. George. The tower is the oldest part of the present parish church, the parish church, the chapel was not commenced until 1776. The tower and its onion- shaped roof is a landmark Weilheim, as well as a distinctive feature of the Faulenbachtal. In the past, both internally and externally conducted extensive renovation, refurbishment and modernization projects - most recently in 1993.

Evang. parish Church

As early as the year 1000 was the Sylvester 's Chapel, built in the area now called Riet home. 1835, much of the chapel was dismantled as old and dilapidated, but the tower remained. In the same year the church was built in a simple style, these buildings have survived to the present day. 1963 to 1964 the church was renovated and modernized inside. To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Sylvester Church in 1985 was renewed renovated, keeping the original exterior remained unchanged.

Only at the end of the 19th century, the Maria -Hilf chapel was built by the citizens of Weilheim. Since this year the Chapel shines even at night in the spotlight.

Traffic

Riet -Weilheim is located on the Gäubahn and has since the introduction of Ringzugs 2003 back rail connection. There is ever a railway stop in Riet and Weilheim. The Ringzug connects the two sub- locations with each other and weekdays every hour with Tuttlingen, Immendingen and Leipferdingen as well as with the station Rottweil, to have the ring pull travelers from Riet -Weilheim connection to Stuttgart. Riet -Weilheim is incorporated in the integrated transport system TUTicket.

Business

The community is an important industrial center in the region with more than 2000 jobs and training courses, 1700 600 commuters and commuters. Riet -Weilheim is known primarily for the Marquardt Group, which is a manufacturer for control and automotive systems one of the largest employers in the region.
