The Diocese of León (Latin: Dioecesis Legionensis ) is a location in Spain Roman Catholic diocese based in León.

History

The bishopric of León was built in the 4th century. As a result of the Islamic expansion was under the diocese of León. There were no bishops are appointed for Leon. Only 792 could be erected the diocese of Leon as a result of the Reconquista again. In 1063, King Ferdinand I of Castile and Leon brought the relics of St. Isidore of Seville to León. On April 15, 1104 Diocese of León became the name immediately diocese.

1851, the Diocese of León was the Archdiocese of Burgos is a suffragan. The bishopric of León was placed under the Archbishopric of Oviedo on 27 October 1954.
