Roman Catholic Diocese of San Cristóbal de La Laguna

The Diocese of San Cristóbal de La Laguna also called the diocese of Tenerife or Diocese Nivariense, (Latin: Sancti Dioecesis Christophori Laguna de o Nivariensis ) is a location in Spain Roman Catholic diocese based in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Tenerife, Canary Islands.

History

The Diocese of San Cristóbal de La Laguna was built Canary Islands on 1 February 1819 by Pope Pius VII by division of the diocese and the Archdiocese of Seville is a suffragan. On March 18, 1877 Pius IX appointed. the Benedictine monk Ildefonso Infante y Macias for the second Bishop of San Cristobal de la Laguna. The current bishop, Bernardo Álvarez Afonso was on 29 June 2005 by Benedict XVI. appointed to the office.
