Geographical Location

The community Rötgesbüttel lies around 15 kilometers north of Brunswick, 10 km south of Gifhorn and 20 km west of Wolfsburg directly on the main road 4, the main link between Braunschweig and Lüneburg. The national road 4 is part of the resin and Heath Association and the German asparagus road. Rötgesbüttel is located on the creek Rötgesbütteler Riede.

Population

History

Rötgesbüttel has existed for more than 770 years. For the first time " Rotlekesbutle " 1226 was mentioned. If you follow the local name research into the development of " constable " - places (see Samtgemeinde Papenteich ), so the village is probably even a few centuries older. In the Middle Ages, the place had significance for the passage of traffic on the old trade route from Hamburg to Braunschweig.

1250 a chapel was built, which was in 1928 a new extension.

The old Gografenhaus, built in 1591, is the oldest house in the village. Here was formerly the seat of the supreme government for the whole area.

Traffic

Rötgesbüttel has a station on the railway line Brunswick- Uelzen.

Through the village leads the federal highway 4, which opens in the further course of about 10 km on the A 391, this has direct access to the A 2

Public institutions

The town has a kindergarten and a primary school.

Opened in 2005, Citizens' Hall is used for events.

The volunteer fire department is one of the two base weirs in the integrated municipality.

The last local elections took place in a turnout of 55.89 % on September 11, 2011. Since then, the council is composed as follows:

  • CDU: 31.71 % and 4 seats
  • SPD: 38.83 % and 5 seats
  • Wählergemeinschaft in Rötgesbüttel ( WE ): 29,45 % and 4 seats

Coat of arms

Blazon: On a silver background a large, green oak with golden acorns, to the roots from the oak a golden seat, left, next to the bank of a rising sun.

The coat of arms is a reminder of the former site of the court Gografschaft Papenteich and rural structures.
