Ruch Chorzów

Ruch Chorzów is a Polish football club from the city of Chorzów ( German: Chorzów ) in the Upper Silesian area. The club is 14 - times Polish champion and thus, together with the local rival Gornik Zabrze record champion of Poland. Last Ruch was able to win the league title in 1989. In the season 12/13 Ruch plays in the Polish league, the Ekstraklasa.

History

The club was founded in 1920 in the context of Volkstumskämpfe in Upper Silesia in the then Prussian town of Bismarck Lodge of the sports department of the Polish Plebiszitkommissariats under Wojciech Korfanty as Ruch Bismarkhuta. ( " Ruch " in German means "movement". ) It was thus an Association of Silesian insurgents. After connecting Ostoberschlesiens to Poland in 1922, the German place name has been replaced by the Polish club in the name - Wielkie Hajduki. 1923 translated the Polish authorities by the merger of Ruch with the German club Bismarck Hütter ballgame Club ( BBC ), which had its own stadium. A year later ( 1924) was the abbreviation BBC deleted from the name.

After April 1, 1939, until then independent municipality Wielkie Hajduki had been connected to the neighboring city of Chorzów, called the KS Ruch Chorzów. With the Wehrmacht's invasion of Poland in September 1939, he was declared by the German occupation authorities disbanded. In fact, however, he was only renamed: He got a German club management and was re-registered under the old name Bismarck Hütter ball game club. For him, occurred in the Gauliga Silesia, the previous Polish national team Eryk tatus, Teodor Peterek and Gerard Wodarz, who had signed the German people list. In November 1939, he was named the early twenties resolved by the Polish authorities Bismarck Hütter Spielvereinigung 1899 ( BSV ). 1941, 1942 and 1944, the BSV were each Vizegaumeister, 1943, he reached the 4th place.

In February 1945, the new Polish authorities the German club disbanded officially. In fact, he got back his old Polish name, a lot of the players who had played in the war in the Gauliga remained. In their official biographies, the occupation was omitted.

With the wave of liquidation of traditional clubs under Stalinism the club was on the Soviet model as KS Chemists Chorzów connected to an industrial complex in 1948. After the union with other operating teams he was from 1949 to ZS Unia Chorzów. Only with the political thaw of 1956, he was able to return to the old name Ruch. Since 2004 Ruch Chorzów is in the corporation Sportowa SA involved.

For the 2007 /08 season, the club initially received by the Polish Football Association a license, since a debt settlement plan was submitted from the previous year. Should move up for the already relegated team Wisła Płock. This decision was annulled shortly thereafter, so that the club played first time since 2003 in the Ekstraklasa. On 18 November 2008, the club announced that he was debt free. Biggest club success after the turn of the millennium was the entry into the Polish Cup final in 2009, but this was lost with 0-1 against Lech Poznan in the Slaski Stadium. In 2012, one could again reach the Polish Cup final, but lost in Kielce 0-3 Legia Warsaw. Overall, it was one of the best seasons of the last decades, as it was also in the Ekstraklasa runner-up next to the cup finals and with only one point behind Slask Wrocław major coup conceivable only just missed. From these successes unbeflügelt the Ekstraklasa 2012/2013 season turned out to be roller coaster ride so you could only be realized on the final day relegation. Although it was relegated as 15 athletic, but was able to maintain due to the direct gained duel against GKS Belchatow and the license withdrawal from Polonia Warsaw, the class still.
