Rümmingen

Rümmingen ( Alemannisch Rümmige ) is a municipality in the district of Lörrach in Baden- Württemberg. The municipality Rümmingen except the homonymous village There are no other villages. The town is a member of Gemeindeverwaltungsverband Front Kander based in Binzen.

Geography

Geographical Location

Rümmingen is located in the extreme southwest of Germany in the Kander Valley in Markgraeflerland, about 6 km from the Swiss and 7 km from the French border.

Neighboring communities

The municipality is bordered to the north by Schallbach and whiting, the east and south to the city of Lörrach and to the west by Binzen.

History

Rümmingen was documented as Romaninchova in a purchase contract, by which the former village was sold along with six other villages to the monastery of St. Denis, near Paris, for the first time in the year 767.

Politically Rümmingen to 1750 was a " branch " of the community Binzen. After Rümmingen back to 1726 an attempt made ​​to obtain a separate spell, took place only with agreement of 6 July 1750, the separation of one 's own district from the previously common spell with Binzen.

  • The Gothic church was built in Rümmingen after approval by the Bishop of Basel ( 1505). The Jacob's Church was a stop on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela. Even today, Sunday services are held there.
