Saman Tahmasebi

Saman Hassan Tahmasebi (born 26 July 1985 in Sanadarash, Prov. Kurdistan ) is an Iranian or Azerbaijani wrestler of Kurdish origin. He won at the Wrestling World Championships 2006 (Guangzhou ) and 2007 ( Baku ) in the middleweight division in the style Greco-Roman bronze medal.

Career

Saman Hassan Tahmasebi only began at the age of 17 years in 2002 with the rings. He was a member of the sports clubs to Takhti Sanadarash ( Gholam Reza Takhti was the first Iranian world wrestling champion ). He concentrated on the Greco-Roman style and launched as an adult always in the middleweight division, the weight category to 84 kg body weight. He studied sports and has been, or is mainly trained by Janshid Heirabadi and after his move to Azerbaijan in 2011 by Farid Mansurov.

Immediately on his first start in an international championship, the 2006 World Cup in Guangzhou, he won victories over Jose Antonio Arias Pareses, Dominican Republic, Kim Jung -sub, South Korea, a defeat against Nazmi Avluca, Turkey and victories over Jake Clark, United States and Kim - Jussi Nurmela, Finland a World Cup bronze medal. At the Asian Games in Doha in 2006 he cut far from not so good. He came there to a victory over Manoj Kumar from India, but lost already in his next fight against Janarbek Kenjeew from Kyrgyzstan, which he finished in 9th place.

In 2008 he competed at the Olympic Games in Beijing. He won there in his first fight against Alexander Daragan from Ukraine, but then lost to Nazmi Avluca. Since this did not reach the final, he was eliminated and only came on the 11th Place.

In 2009, Hassan Saman Tahmasebi denied any international championships.

In February 2010, he competed in the Yadegar - Iman Cup in Qom yet for Iran and took there the 3rd place. After that, he left Iran, moved to Azerbaijan, where he received very quickly Azerbaijani nationality. So fast that he could walk at the World Championships in Moscow at the start in September 2010. He won there first Dejan Sernek from Slovenia, but lost already in his second fight against Damian Janikowski from Poland and reached only the 19th Place.

At the European Championship 2011 in Dortmund he lost to Jan Fischer and resigned from this defeat. He finished in 15th place. Much better he cut off at the World Championships 2011 in Istanbul. He defeated there Manoj Kumar and Haykel Achouri, Tunisia, lost against Alim Selimow, triumphed over Nenad Zugaj and Janarbek Kenjeew and eventually lost the decisive battle for a world championship bronze medal against Rami from Finland Hietaniemi. With the 5th place he had fought for the eligibility for the Olympic Games 2012 in London.

A medal missed Saman Hassan Tahmasebi also at the European Championships 2012 in Belgrade. He arrived there on the 8th Place. At the Olympic Games in London, where he took part of Azerbaijan, he lost to Wladimir Gegeschidse from Georgia and retired after that, because Gegeschidse not reached the final. He finished in 11th place.

At the European Championships 2013 in Tbilisi, he lost his first fight against Alexei Mishin, the multiple world champion from Russia. He then defeated Dorin Constantin Pirvan from Romania and Fisnik Zahiti from Sweden. But the battle for the bronze medal bout against Nenad Zugaj from Croatia. At the World Championships in Budapest in September 2013 he then scored a great success once again. He defeated middleweight Eugen Ponomartschuk from Germany, Viktor Lörincz from Hungary, Giorgi Zirekidse from Georgienund Rami from Finland Hietaniemi. Dmit he was in the final battle against his former team-mates Iranian Taleb Nariman Nematpour. He lost that fight just with 3:5 points and therefore became vice world champion.

Note: Saman Hassan Tahmasebi is not identical with the Iranian wrestler Hassan Tahmasebi, who started ( weight category up to 66 kg body weight) as a freestyle wrestler at lightweight.
