San Miguel de Salinas

San Miguel de Salinas is a municipality in the province of Alicante ( Valencian Community ) in Spain. It lies about 10 km from Torrevieja, on 1 January 2013 had 7012 inhabitants and consists of the village and some related settlements.

New Spatial Plan

In April 2003 a new development plan ("Plan General de Ordenacion Urbana ( PGOU ) " ) for San Miguel de Salinas was adopted by the municipality. The plan envisages the construction 50000-70000 new homes and places a population growth of the church from the current 7000 to up to 150,000 residents based.

Will be opened up the whole area south of San Miguel de Salinas, between the town center and the settlements Las Filipinas and Ciudad de las Comunicaciones. A total of 1,500 hectares of agricultural land to be converted into building land. This plan has provoked opposition from various citizens' initiatives. This refusal is justified, inter alia, so that the infrastructure of the village is overloaded already present.
