Geography

History

Since the establishment of the Duchy of Bavaria, the place was Bavarian. In 1140 he was first mentioned in a document from the monastery St. Nikola Passau as sanctimarienchirchen, 1160 in a document from the monastery Rich Mountain as ecclesia sancte marie. The place came in 1779 after the Treaty of Teschen with the Innviertel (then ' Innbaiern ') to Austria. During the Napoleonic Wars shortly Bavarian, it belongs since 1814 finally to Upper Austria.
