Geography
St. Mary's churches in Schärding located at 338 m altitude in Innviertel. The expansion is 7.1 kilometers from north to south, from west to east 6.4 km. The total area is 24.9 km ². 9.2% of the area is forested, 74.3 % of the area is used for agriculture. The municipality is bounded on the northwest by the Inn in the southwest by the Antiesen.

Blazon: In red a silver tip, covered with a green spruce and supported the right of a silver, upright, left -turned wolf, left by a silver, upright bear holding a silver hoe in the front paws. The municipality colors are green and white. The bear comes from the family crest of the Hackledter, the wolf from the arms of the bishops of Passau. The birth of the village is also mentioned in a legend.
History
Since the establishment of the Duchy of Bavaria, the place was Bavarian. In 1140 he was first mentioned in a document from the monastery St. Nikola Passau as sanctimarienchirchen, 1160 in a document from the monastery Rich Mountain as ecclesia sancte marie. The place came in 1779 after the Treaty of Teschen with the Innviertel (then ' Innbaiern ') to Austria. During the Napoleonic Wars shortly Bavarian, it belongs since 1814 finally to Upper Austria. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on 13 March 1938, the town belonged to the " Upper Danube ". After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria.
