Sharpe is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Brevard County in the U.S. state of Florida with 3,411 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Sharpe is located on the Indian River near the east coast of Florida and on the south by the city of Cocoa. The CDP is located approximately 10 km south of Titusville and about 60 kilometers east of Orlando. It is crossed by U.S. Highway 1 (SR 5).

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 3,411 inhabitants distributed to 1,728 households. The population density was 443 inh. / Km ². 91.9 % of the population were white, 3.4% African American, 0.9% Native American and 0.6 % Asian Americans. 1.0% were members of other ethnic groups and 2.3% in different ethnic groups. 3.1% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 34.3 % of all households lived in 23.9 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 61.4 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.32 persons and the average family size is 2.81 people.

21.2% of the population were younger than 20 years, 18.9% were 20-39 years old, 33.2% were 40-59 years old and 26.6 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 47 years. 51.6 % of the population were male and 48.4 % female.

The average annual income was $ 34,418, while 10.1 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 97.04 % of the population spoke Spanish 2.18% and 0.78 % spoke German.
