Indialantic is a town in Brevard County in the U.S. state of Florida with 2,720 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Indialantic is located between the Indian River ( a part of the Intracoastal Waterway ) and Atlantic Ocean on the east coast of Florida. The city is located about 60 km south of Titusville, and around 110 km southeast of Orlando.

Religions

In Indialantic, there are eight churches of four denominations. The Catholic Church is most strongly represented at three churches. There is also a no denominational church belonging ( as of 2004).

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 2,720 inhabitants distributed to 1,584 households. The population density was 1,007.4 inh. / Km ². 94.7 % of the population were white, 0.5% African American, 0.2% Native American and 1.7 % Asian Americans. 0.9% were members of other ethnic groups and 2.1% in different ethnic groups. 5.3% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 35.2 % of all households lived in 19.8 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 59.11 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.11 persons and the average family size is 2.67 people.

17.9% of the population were younger than 20 years, 16.8% were 20-39 years old, 34.0% were 40-59 years old and 31.2 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 50 years. 50.2 % of the population were male and 49.8 % female.

The average annual income was $ 63,164, while 8.0 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 97.79 % of the population spoke Spanish and 2.21%.

Traffic

Indialantic is crossed by U.S. Highway 192 (SR 500) and by the Florida State Road A1A. The Melbourne International Airport is around 10 km away.

Crime

The crime rate in 2010 was 197 points ( U.S. average: 266 points ) in the low range. There was a rape, three injuries, 21 burglaries and 67 thefts.
