Siemensdamm (Berlin U-Bahn)

Metro Station Siemensdamm is a station of the Berlin U -Bahn line U7, which opened on 1 October 1980 as part of the North -west extension of the U7 direction Spandau. It lies between the same street and the Popitzweg in the district of Siemens City. The station, which is referred to in the station list of the BVG as you, though has an escalator but no elevator, so it is referred to as non-accessible.

The station was designed in honor of Werner von Siemens, who has significantly contributed to the erection of the Berlin U -Bahn. The subway station was designed by Rainer G. Rümmler. In round murals numerous achievements of Siemens to be displayed.

In 2003 the station was completely refurbished. By 2016, the station is accessible rebuilt and an elevator will be installed.

Multi-purpose shelter

The platform area can be completely separated by four massive concrete gates with additional signaling from the tunnel system; each access has another goal to seal it. Since the entire system is to be operated under positive pressure to prevent the ingress of gases, are located in the tunnel area check valves, which produce a loud audible and characteristic for this station " popping " at each train arrives. The south-eastern access has a gas lock and a speaker to give instructions to people seeking protection in case of need. The system has at its eastern one and the western end of two six-meter high air filter towers. It is intended that each set up, if necessary, on the tracks a train in the system to have the track surfaces as additional living and sleeping space. Electricity generators and water filter then power up to 4500 people in the mezzanine and on the platform.

Connection

At the metro station is a transfer possibility of the U7 to bus line 123 of the Berlin Transport Authority.
